TeleVideo TS‑801

The TeleVideo TS-801 is the first personal computer from TeleVideo designed to provide businesses with a powerful and reliable workstation. TeleVideo had established itself as a company specializing in terminals. It can also be connected to larger multi-user systems. It is based on the TS-806 and TS-816 "Service Processor" systems.

The TS-801 utilized the Zilog Z80A microprocessor running at 4 MHz and came with 64KB of memory as standard, offering ample capabilities for running software on CP/M, the operating system chosen for this model. There were no expansion possibilities.

In terms of storage, the TS-801 was equipped with dual 5.25-inch floppy drives, each with a capacity of 360KB. For display, the TS-801 used a terminal via RS-232 which could display 80 columns by 24 lines.

Interestingly, TeleVideo positioned the TS-801 as a powerful and versatile system for business use, as evidenced by its robust construction and the included software applications. Businesses used the TS-801 for a wide range of business functions, from word processing and spreadsheets to database management and financial analysis software.
