This computer was produced by Philips from 1984 to 1986. It was intended for the French market, so it has an AZERTY keyboard instead of QWERTY. It is equipped with 24 KB of RAM, although in reality, only 16KB is intended for programs and 8KB for video memory. Additionally, the machine has 18 KB of ROM.
The Philips VG-5000 is not an MSX-compatible computer, despite its name implying so. It resembles a hybrid between a Videopac G7000 and an MSX (VG-8000).
The video chip, an SGS Thomson EF9345P, can display 8 colors. The same video chip can also be found in the Matra Alice.
