The P2500 and the P2000B were business computers manufactured by Philips. They were sold on the market as machines for companies and institutions. These computers are considered very rare.

The P2500 and the P2000B were used as word processors with CP/M as the standard operating system. It was also a possibility to use UCSD/P on the system, just like with the P2000C. It was even possible to run P2000M Basic programs on the P2500 and the P2000B. It was also possible to expand the computers via insert cards. Just like the P2000M and the P2000T, these machines had a specific ROM cartridge which had to be utilized in order for the system to run.

There were two models available: a 'compact' model and a 'building block' version. The compact model was comprised of a monitor with two built in floppy drives, while the block version was comprised of a separate monitor with a special stand and a separate floppy disk unit. Both models also had a base unit and a keyboard.

The base unit of the computers had 64 Kb of memory with 16 Kb RAM for the video controller. Both computers had two 5,25" floppy disk drives that, as with the P2000M, were located next to the monitor. If these drives were formatted, then they both had a capacity of 304 Kb. An external disk unit could also be connected to the system, which could read two 8" floppy disks (0.5 Mb and 0.25 Mb for IBM compatibility). Later in its lifespan, it was also possible to connect a 5.25" Winchester hard disk to the system.

The difference between the P2500 and the P2000B were to be found in the system's colour settings. The P2000B had the same configuration as the P2000M (grey/black) but the P2500 had a lighter setting in line with the newer Philips computers. The 12" monitor had (for the time) a high screen resolution (256x512). The screen did not come without any faults: the type in our museum has screen rot. This means that the glue between two pieces of glass has mold. This is removable, though it is a very time-consuming task.

The P2500 and the P2000B also have, next to the external memory, also the possibility to connect various types of printers to the system. There is the choice between a matrix or a daisywheelprinter.
