Nintendo Wii Software Development Kit

A complete Nintendo Wii software development kit has five components: RVT-001 to RVT-005.

RVT-001: NDEV. This is the main tool for the development of Wii software. It looks like a little black box, and has the same hardware as a normal Wii, except a diskdrive and harddrive. The NDEV needs a hostsystem to boot.

RVT-002: RVT-R Reader. This is an optical disk reader that kan read burned discs, in order to test games, for example. It looks like a normal Wii with a green front panel, to match with the green disk drive of the Gamecube devkits.

RVT-003: RVT-R Writer. This is a disc burner that can burn the discs the Wii uses. It seems to be hard to find nowadays.

RVT-004: RVT-R Single Layer Disk. This is the optical disk type used by the Wii. They are much like the Gamecube devkit discs, but have more storage capacity.

RVT-005: RVT-H Header (also known as RVL-H Header). This also looks like a normal Wii, but has a red front panel. This is a hard drive that can store and load multiple games on its internal storage. Using the buttons on the front, it can also switch between different games or versions of a game in development to test it without needing to burn to a disc.
