Amstrad
Amstrad was an electronics company located in Brentwood, Essex, England.
Alan Sugar founded Amstrad in 1968. The name is short for Alan Michael Sugar Trading.
By the late 1980s, it had a 25% share of the European computer market.
Acquired by B-Sky B (now SKY) in 2007, it is currently under the umbrella of SKY and mainly manufactures set-top boxes for digital satellite broadcasting.
